Animal control officers found a small hawk Monday afternoon. They say he was frightened and malnourished.
NewsChannel 11 was the only station on the scene when animal control rescued the small hawk near Indiana and Amherst. The bird cornered itself in an open garage after police officers were able to get the bird off a busy portion of Indiana avenue. NewsChannel 11 cameras followed animal control to the South Plains Wildlife Center. There, the center gave the malnourished hawk a shot that includes electrolytes to help nourish and hydrate the bird. The hawk will be given fluids every hour for the next twenty-four hours.
