Slow ticket sales are forcing the Dixie Chicks to cancel concert dates in fourteen cities. Houston, Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis and Knoxville are among the fourteen cancellations.
The group says it is replacing the cities with other dates, including some in Canada. Meanwhile, some country radio stations across the country, including some in Lubbock are still not playing Dixie Chicks music. The ban started in 2003, when Lubbock native Natalie Maines told a London audience the trio was ashamed that the president was from Texas. Record sales however continue to be strong. Within four weeks of its release, "Taking the Long Way" topped 1 million record sales making it a platinum album.
