Shopping Cart Injuries

Most parents today are making a real effort to buckle their kids in the car but did you know there were more than twenty thousand visits to emergency rooms last year alone from kids with injuries because they were not buckled up in shopping carts.

The study at Columbus Children's Hospital found that out of all those cases where kids fell out of shopping carts, forty-percent had broken bones and nearly eighty-percent had head and neck injuries. Researchers suggest stores arrange for someone to greet shoppers at the door and encourage kids to buckle up, even offer cash coupons to the kids who buckle up.
