Food Bank Hosts Fence Fundraiser

A $22,000 fence is what the South Plains Food Bank says it will take to keep vandals and thieves out of its Grub Farm.

Grub stands for "Growing Recruits for Urban Business".  It's a program that teaches Lubbock youth gardening skills that could be useful in a career in agriculture.  However, vandals and thieves keep causing damage to the fields so, the food bank is trying to raise money to build a fence by hosting a barbecue fundraiser Saturday.

However, if you missed the fundraising event, it's not too late to make a donation.  Just contact the Grub Farm at 763-3003.
