Two Year-Old Drowns In Grandparents Pool

Earlier Tuesday evening, a two year-old girl died after she drowned in her grandparents pool. It happened shortly after 6:00 at the 15 hundred block of Country Road 1300, just south of Wolfforth.

We have just learned the little girl, who's name has not been released, died at 7:20 PM at UMC. Lubbock Sheriff investigators say she's from McAllen and was in town visiting her grandparents. They tell us her grandparents, parents and cousins were all at the house, but do not know how the little girl got into the pool. Family members found the girl underwater and started CPR.

Wolfforth police, the fire department, and EMS responded to the call. EMS revived her before airlifting her to the hospital, but was unable to stabilize her.

The grandparents have a pool that is above ground with a deck built around it.

The little girl turned two in May.

This is the first drowning this summer for the Lubbock area.
