Food for Thought Report 8.17

Out of the two dozen food establishments inspected only two are on the plate - one on top and one on bottom.

It's perfection once again for this four-time top performer. Christakis Burger at 1111 34th Street says it's all about keeping clean and keeping the customers happy.

"It's very important because customers notice we want them to be very comfortable when they come here. It's like they are eating at their own home," owner Melissa Stripling said.

Whether you're dining on a hamburger, Mexican food or even a something Greek, you never know who might stop in.

"We also added a new cook, and it's Coach Knight. He comes in and waits on customers and he's very nice and sweet, and if it's your lucky night he might be here," Stripling said.

Here is a complete list of the restaurants and their violations for the week ending on 8/17/06.

Now we head over to our only low performer.

Wienerschnitzel at 1202 50th Street had five critical violations.

  • Cold food was being held between 48 and 49 degrees. It must be kept at the safe temperature of 41 degrees or colder.
  • An employee's drink cup was found without a lid above clean dishes.
  • Several cans were found dented.
  • A spray bottle was not labeled.
  • A cutting board was found soiled. The report also states that it had cuts too deep to be properly cleaned.

Management at Wienerschnitzel had "no comment."

The report shows, no violations were corrected at the time of the inspection.
