NewsChannel 11 has learned the man considered a person of interest in the disappearance of Kay Harrelson and Peggy Merimon is most likely on administrative leave.
Lubbock State School officials tell us it is standard procedure when someone is being investigated. The man matches the description of the man Harrelson and Merimon were seen leaving the Lubbock State School with. He is also the same man police questioned as a person of interest. He is an employee of the Lubbock State School. He also says he spoke with Harrelson and Merimon the morning they disappeared.
Police found some time discrepancies between the time he told them he left the school and the time he was seen leaving that day. He also told investigators he came home alone but surveillance cameras outside his complex, show his car driving into the complex with a passenger. The man also told police both women had been to his home within the last two months. Police searched his home and car where they seized a number of items, like bedding and hair samples but they also found a gold necklace in an envelope.
Again, he is not being called a suspect but a person of interest.
