Wolfforth One Step Closer To Allowing Packaged Alcohol Sales

214 people are petitioning for an election to legalize packaged alcohol sales in Wolfforth. Monday, Lubbock County Commissioners will make that election official. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta explains how this could affect businesses and residents.

The Shell station in Wolfforth is just one of the many businesses that will have the opportunity to sell packaged alcohol if it is passed on election day. Only businesses within the city limits will be eligible to sell packaged alcohol.

We're told several retail stores have expressed interest in building locations in Wolfforth if the item is passed. Those include Albertson's, HEB and Cosco. United is already set to start construction soon. But it will be up to voters to decide if those stores can sell alcohol

You'll recall, last year Wolfforth voters legalized alcohol sales in restaurants. Once made official the issue of packaged alcohol sales will be on the November 7th ballot. We're told if it is passed, the retail stores that sell alcohol could attract people within 900 square miles of Wolfforth.
