Young Couple Dead After Overnight Accident

A young couple, who's family calls inseparable, is dead tonight. The couple was hit when police say another driver ran a red light around 12:30 Monday morning.

Lubbock Police are now looking at this case as a possible intoxication manslaughter. The driver of the second car, 34-year-old Gabriel Gonzales, was treated at Covenant Medical Center and later released. It was not the same fate for the young couple.

22-year-old Bryan Perry and 21-year-old Jackie Little were hit after a car ran a red light. Jackie died here at the scene of the crash, her boyfriend Bryan died later at University Medical Center. The blue car was going west on 19th Street. The light turned red, but the blue car allegedly didn't stop, slamming into the green Honda. Jackie Little was driving the car, she died instantly, her boyfriend died moments later at UMC.

Bryan's grandmother tells us she is trying to stay strong for the family. "I wanna cry, hit the wall, hit something, scream. But I know I have to be strong because I am the mother," said Wendy Stewart.

Tonight on NewsChannel 11 at 10, we'll tell you more about the young couple and the tragedy of their deaths as well as the suspect's history of drinking and driving.
