Putting in a hard days work might be putting pressure on your heart. New research shows people who work long hours are more likely to be diagnosed with high blood pressure.
A survey of over 50,000 people found those who worked forty one to fifty one hours a week had a seventeen per cent increased risk for the condition. Those who worked over fifty one hours had a nearly thirty percent increased risk.
Experts say patients and doctors need to be aware that work can be a risk factor for high blood pressure, and it should be considered when creating a treatment plan. It can also be an opportunity to tell your boss you're going home early!
