Gene Therapy To Cure Melanoma

Two patients with advanced Melanoma are not just alive but cancer-free today two years after gene therapy to genetically alter their immune cells.

That news comes from the National Institutes of Health which explains the patients regular blood cells were transformed into tumor attackers wiping out all signs of cancer, even after it had spread elsewhere in the body.

The only problem, fifteen other Melanoma patients in the study were not successful using gene therapy but still, the NCI says if it worked for two patients that's promising and studies will continue to see why gene therapy worked for those patients.
