Travis County Commissioners Rescind Weight Loss Offer

Never mind...that's the word from county commissioners in Travis County who have decided not to offer free weight loss surgery to county employees in Austin.

Remember, we told you last week they had offered to pay for up to 15 bariatric surgeries a year, suggesting that would cost less than what the county pays now for obesity related illnesses. But after enormous public outcry against the idea, Travis County says forget it...the offer is gone now.
