A Lubbock mother is pleading for your help tonight. Normally, O- blood is the universal donor. But there is a woman at UMC tonight with a rare blood disorder that is attacking her red blood cells.
Doctors say 32-year-old Danielle Newman needs her own specific blood type, which is B+., and UBS is all out of B+.
"They've been checking about 5 states trying to get some blood in for her. So, I was hoping we could reach some people here because if they would go to the blood bank and donate blood then maybe it would be a match for Danielle," said Sharon Newman, Danielle's mother.
Actually, UBS is out of 5 blood types right now and unable to fill hospital orders for any of the negative blood types and also B+, which is Danielle's need. So, all donors are greatly appreciated.
If you can give blood tomorrow, UBS is located at 48th and University. You can always call 741-1752 to make an appointment.
