Lubbock County Sheriff's Dept. The man whose traffic stop led to a brief street closure in South Lubbock will spend nearly six years in prison. A judge sentenced Jeremy Womack to 71 months in federal prison without the possibility of parole for possession of an unregistered firearm.
Womack has been in custody since last April when he was pulled over at the South Loop and University. Police found an explosive device made out of powder, bird shot pellets and screws in his car. Police say further investigation showed Womack sent his estranged wife a text message 45-minutes before the stop, threatening to kill himself and her.
