After almost three years of planning, the long awaited Grace Clinic officially opened its doors to patients today and NewsChannel 11 got the first tour.
The new outpatient clinic on the Marsha Sharp Freeway is actually in phase one of a project that will eventually include thirty doctors, including long time Obstetrician, Duncan Burkholder, who describes Grace Clinic as one stop shopping.
"We can get our lab tests done here, any imaging, in house pharmacy, surgi-center. It's all one place, one time, one computer system for our patients," said Dr. Duncan Burkholder, an OB-GYN, at Grace Clinic.
The other unique features include art displays from local artists, specially designed robes that keep you safe from a "wardrobe malfunction"and there's even a coffee bar serving Starbucks if you're in the mood.
But Dr. Randy Hickle predicts the one convenience patients will appreciate the most is the new "call in clinic," in which all the paperwork is done by phone and computer to make your wait time shorter when you arrive.
"And then tell them how long their wait is, and allow someone to stay in bed until it's their turn. So we'll call them back and get them straight in the door in an exam room so if they're feeling badly, then get back to bed as quickly as we can," said Dr. Randy Hinckle, the CEO of the Grace Clinic.
Grace Clinic is the joint creation of Lubbock Physicians and Scott Laboratories. Dr. Hickle says phase two should be complete in a couple of weeks.
