Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is the last day of October, National Travel Systems decided today to turn their Halloween festival into a Passionately Pink Party instead.
Throughout the afternoon, about 30 pink travel agents and administrators showed up at the Abbeville office to bring awareness to breast cancer for personal reasons. One of their own agents died of the disease in 2000.
Pam Berryhill was just 45 years old, and also, the husband of agent Sylvia Lehman is a breast cancer survivor. You may recognize Dr. Joe Lehman, a retired dermatologist, he is now cancer free after fighting breast cancer two years ago.
So, in memory of Pam and in honor of survivors like Dr. Lehman, National Travel Systems had this to say today: "We're passionately pink to find a cure!"
Their pink party raised $408 Tuesday which will be matched by National Travel Systems to become an $800 donation to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
