Here is a complete list of the restaurants and their violations for the week ending on 11/23/06.
"The name is a little misleading we do more than just beef jerky," says Lone Star Beef Jerky owner Tommy Ross.
In fact, the 2314 Colgate location does a lot more than just beef jerky. "We do a carry-out lunch every day, and you can see on the board we have different special everyday. It's primarily BBQ," Ross said.
After being in the plumbing industry for decades, Ross took over the north Lubbock business about a year ago.
"I thought he was crazy! He's always had a life dream of wanting to do this so I'm happy for him," Ross' wife Patsie has a different day job, but when it comes to the holidays, "We're smoking turkeys around the clock trying to stay up with demand."
But it's not just turkeys turning in the cooker, "If you have brisket you need to cook for a party and didn't have time to cook we'd be happy to custom cook your brisket, your turkey whatever your needs are we try to please," Ross said.
They also do wild game processing, "This is hunting season and they have us busy," Ross said.
So back to what they're known for, "It's marinated, hand strung and then smoked in a smoker instead of just de-hydrated," Ross said.
The beef jerky is hand cut made from hindquarters with your choice of hot or regular. Ross says it's daily cleaning that makes them a three-peat top performer.
Now here's a count down to the other top performers.
Three: The number of reasons United Supermarket at 8010 Frankford has to be thankful - the bakery, meat market and coffee shop were perfect!
Two: Wal-Mart at 702 West Loop 289 has two top performers - the meat market and produce department were flawless.
One: Cilantro's does it big, and their health inspection is no exception. This burrito grill at 4210 82nd Street is all about freshness with meats that are never frozen and salsas and guacamole made from scratch, every morning and afternoon! They are so proud of their clean kitchen it's open to all customers.
