Hair Loss Drug May Skew Cancer Test Results

Here's a good example of why all your doctors need to know every drug or herbal remedy you maybe taking. Propecia, a popular hair loss drug, may skew the results of a PSA test, which is the gold standard in testing for prostate cancer.

This study was sponsored by researchers at Merck, the maker of Propecia. They found that Propecia can lower PSA levels by 50% which means that men who previously thought their PSA test results were safe may need a closer look if their doctor was unaware they were taking Propecia.
