As cold and flu season gets into full swing, doctors say it's important to pay attention to how much acetaminophen you are taking.
Acetaminophen is the main ingredient in many over the counter fever reducers and pain killers like Tylenol and Excedrin. So, if you take several different medications that all contain acetaminophen, that can be damaging to the liver.
In fact, long term, it could lead to liver failure. The FDA said Tuesday it wants stricter warnings on aspirin and acetaminophen, the ingredient in Tylenol, and anti-inflammatories like Advil, Aleve and others.
