It's estimated that half the people in America make the same New Year's resolution to eat healthy and lose weight. Then, by the third week into the new year half of those people have given up. Well, this is the third week, a perfect time for NewsChannel 11 to kick start the effort with a challenge. We're calling it "Let's Lose It Lubbock."
We've called on Weight Watchers to help. In all, 25 people have stepped up to the challenge including county court at law judge Drue Farmer, Eddie McBride, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Jack Booe, former Coronado principal, currently assistant superintendent of secondary education at LISD, Nancy Sharp, public information director at LISD, City Councilman Gary Boren, Wester Elementary principal Karla Hankins and Emergency Management coordinator Kevin Overstreet.
The first meeting was a learning session of understanding how to turn food into a point system. No food is off limits you just have to balance your points and remember why you want to lose weight.
So, every Thursday night, we'll bring you an update in our challenge, "Let's Lose It Lubbock." We'll let you know how many pounds we've lost and some healthy tips on eating out and dining in.
