About 300 people gathered at the Merket Alumni Center Friday to recognize the accomplishments of the Texas Tech School of Nursing as it celebrates its 25th anniversary this weekend.
On NewsChannel 11 at 5, the Dean of the School of Nursing said the increase in enrollment speaks for itself.
"That first graduating class last year had five students in it and now, my graduating class last year had 362 students. So, it's come a long way," said Dr. Alexia Green, the Dean of the TTUHSC School of Nursing.
Dr. Green says there is still a nursing shortage and the demand for nurses means an increase in salaries too ranging from a starting pay of about 40,000 to more than a 100,000 today. The School of Nursing's 25th anniversary celebration continues Saturday.
We'll have more that Saturday night on NewsChannel 11 at 10.
