Lubbock Family Named USTA Texas Tennis Family of the Year

Jim and Blanca Blacketer and their three children, Mary Alice, Ame and Jim recently received the 2006 United States Tennis Association Texas Family of the Year award.

Jim Blacketer is the director of the Burgess-Rushing Tennis Center and conducts countless clinics, including for the Special Olympics. Blanca plays tennis in the USTA leagues and also officiates and directs local tournaments.

The three children were not available for NewsChannel 11's story Thursday, but they had a good excuse...they were playing tennis! Ame plays at Southern Illinois University, Jim plays college tennis in Kansas and Mary Alice plays tennis at Coronado High School.

Congrats to the Blacketer family!
