He was a familiar figure to television viewers after appearing in some 800 commercials over the years. We knew him as simply Dave, but Dave Thomas was the founder of one of the world's most succesful fast food chains in the country, Wendys. Dave Thomas started the franchise in 1969, naming it after his daughter.
"He was a regular person and a very nice man. He was always very pleasant and had a nice disposition," says Leonard Paul a friend of Thomas.
"He had been undergoing treatment and had been having problems with his kidneys as well for which he had been on chemodialysis," says Dr. Sheldon Warman, Thomas' doctor.
He died overnight at his Florida home after suffering a 10 year battle with liver cancer. Dave Tthomas, who seemed like everybody's fast food friend was 69 years-old.
