There's even stronger evidence that a glass of wine to end your day could extend your life dramatically.
This one is a Dutch study that followed more than 1.300 men over a 40 year period and they found those who drank a glass or even a half glass of red wine each day had nearly a 50 percent lower rate of death from heart disease compared to the men who did not drink alcohol at all.
According to the study, the life expectancy in the men who drank red wine was extended nearly four years longer than those who didn't drink alcohol. Researchers suspect compounds in red wine help interfere with the buildup of fatty tissue in the arteries.
But this side-note and it's an important one the key is no more than a glass a day because heavy alcohol consumption can trigger a long list of other problems.
