Texans Beat SWCC In Quarterfinals

Steve Harley scored 20 points to lead four South Plains College players in double figures as the Texans defeated Southwestern Christian College 89-85 in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region V Tournament in Belton Friday.

South Plains (25-6) will face either Howard or Temple in the semifinals Saturday at 7 p.m.

SPC led by as many as 12 in the second half, but SWCC came back to cut the deficit to 2 with 18 second remaining. But free throws by Jonathan Hall and Jermaine Bolden in the final 12 seconds helped the Texans seal the win.

In addition to Harley's 20 points, Bolden and Malik Motnii each had 15, Lu Griffin added 14, Jonathan Hall and Nick Okorie each scored 9 and Delawn Armwood added 7.

For SWCC, Montrell Williams had 20 points.
