Gift Will Make It Easier For Children In The Hospital

Monday UMC Children's Hospital received a special gift to make it a little easier for children to cope during their stay in the hospital.

Hollywood Entertainment and Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation donated a Starlight Starbright Fun Center to the hospital.

UMC Health Systems Vice President Greg Bruce says, "It's a tremendous benefit. It allows the child to have something they can equate to, relate to from home."

Five thousand fun centers have been placed in more than 1,000 hospitals around the country and caregivers have reported a decreased dependence on pain medication for some children.

The multimedia fun center is portable, so patients that are bed-ridden can benefit as well.
