Remember our icy weather in January? That's what cancelled the Women's Heart Symposium which is scheduled for this Saturday instead.
That 4th annual event brings about 500 women together for free medical tests that include blood pressure and oximeter checks, lab tests, vascular screenings, and bone mineral density checks, just to name a few.
"This would be $500 or more if people were to have this done without insurance and even if they did have insurance, some of these studies wouldn't necessarily be covered if they didn't have a diagnosis for it. They'd be paying for it out of pocket," said Dr. Susan Davis, the Covenant- Medical Director of Women's Heart Services.
Dr. Davis says to get the best results from these free medical tests, you need to fast for 12 hours before the screenings. That means no breakfast Saturday.
The Women's Heart Symposium is at the Holiday Inn Park Plaza this year. The screenings are all free from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday morning. If you stay for the lunch program at 11:30 a.m., the cost is $10.
