Flooding Hits Lubbock After Severe Thunderstorms

We saw heavy flooding and hail hit the South Plains Wednesday night during some severe storms.

Part of 73rd Street was blocked Thursday morning near the intersection of Wayne, after severe thunderstorms flooded a nearby lake.

The storm started around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening hitting the Northeastern South Plains, near Silverton. NewsChannel 11's Storm Chaser David Drummond was out chasing funnels Wednesday and says he witnessed at least 6 touchdowns in that area.

And just after 11:30 p.m. storms hit Lubbock. We saw strong winds, reportedly up to around 71 mph, along with reports of hail that was golf ball size. All main roads and highways seem to be clear Thursday morning. Be careful on side roads and intersections, where you might find some heavy flooding or roads blocked.
