Monterey Softball Coach Forced to Resign

The Monterey Lady Plainsmen have won 21 games and enter the softball playoffs on Friday, so why did Coach Rob Young resign, effective at the end of the school year?  He was told he violated a UIL rule while taking the team out to eat after a game in Amarillo, yet he believes he did nothing wrong.

Young tells NewsChannel 11 he was told to resign by the end of the day for misappropriating school funds or he would be fired. He decided to resign when told his team would be forced to forfeit games and not make the playoffs.

Young has agreed to become the head girls basketball coach at Brownfield for next season.

Young spoke to Pete Christy about the situation and you can click and listen to the entire interview to get the story.
