The LCU Athletic Department and Head Coach Steve Gomez are pleased to announce the signing of Lubbock Coronado High School Lady Mustang Bailey St. Clair to play basketball at Lubbock Christian University next season for the Lady Chaps.
A standout for Coach Shirlene Hughes at Coronado, St. Clair averaged 16 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.8 steals, and 2.3 assists last season and excelled in CHS's high-powered full-court press style of basketball, which is not all that dissimilar from Coach Gomez's up-tempo play.
For her efforts, St. Clair was rewarded with several post-season accolades, including First-Team All-City, First-Team All-District, and TGCA First-Team All-State honors. In addition, she was an All-Tournament performer a year ago at the Gene Messer Shootout in Canyon as well as the Most Valuable Player at the AMBUCS Caprock Holiday Tournament.
St. Clair joins a Lady Chap squad that enjoyed a banner year last season. In 2006-2007, the Lady Chaps set a school record for wins in a season with 26 and captured a share of the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season championship, becoming the first team from outside of the State of Oklahoma to do so. In the end, Lubbock Christian finished 26-7 advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in Jackson, Tennessee for the fourth year in a row, bowing out in the Sweet Sixteen.
