The last time Professional Boxing was held in Lubbock was December 12, 1987. And after almost a 20 year hiatus, the sport was supposed to return on May 12th with the West Texas Boxing Standoff at the Civic Center.
Unfortunately, the card on May 12th has been postponed and will be rescheduled for either August 24th or 25th.
The main reason for the delay, a few of the fighters on the May card were banged up and couldn't get medical clearance to fight so getting this 90 day extension will give them time to mend their wounds and get in the ring in August.
The wait for Pro Boxing's return is a little longer, but will be back in August at the Civic Center.
