Three Former Lady Raiders Return to Lubbock for WNBA Game

Three former Texas Tech women's basketball players will be playing in the WNBA preseason game being held at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock on Fri., May 4, at 7 p.m. Sheryl Swoopes and Erin Grant will be playing for the Houston Comets as they take on Plenette Pierson and the Detroit Shock.

Swoopes, who was a member of Texas Tech's 1993 National Championship team, returns to Lubbock after playing in the Hub City in 2004 when the USA Women's National Team took on Japan in an exhibition game prior to the 2004 Olympics.

Pierson and Grant return to the United Spirit Arena for the first time since playing for the Lady Raiders. Pierson wrapped up her career in 2003, while Grant finished just a year ago.

Tickets are still on sale for the WNBA preseason game between the defending WNBA Champions the Detroit Shock and the four-time WNBA Champions the Houston Comets.

Tickets are available for $10 for lower level reserved and $5 for upper level general admission.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the pre-game dinner for $25, which will be held in the City Bank Conference Center at the United Spirit Arena from 5:30-7 p.m. The doors for the game will open at 6 p.m.

There is also a limited number of reserved parking passes available for $20. The reserved parking area is the North Lot of the United Spirit Arena. The other parking lots surrounding the arena will be open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Fans can also purchase a $5 upper level general admission ticket to be donated to the local YWCA.

For tickets to the WNBA game, please contact (888) GO-BIG-12 or (806) 742-TECH or stop by the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office in the north end of Jones AT&T Stadium. Tickets also can be purchased through the Texas Tech athletic website at www.texastech.com and at area United Supermarket and Select-a-Seat locations. If purchasing tickets from the Athletic Ticket Office at Jones AT&T Stadium, please use the east side parking lot as the west side parking lot is not accessible from 4th Street.

Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the game starting at noon at the Athletic Ticket Office at the United Spirit Arena.

Dinner tickets and parking passes can only be purchased at the Athletic Ticket Office or online at www.texastech.com.
