Littlefield Native Has Stadium Named After Him

Wilford Moore is 87 years young. He's in the Athletic Hall of Fame at McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons and his Coaching Career includes a stop at Lubbock High.

This Sunday, McMurry University in Abilene will rename its football stadium, which has been known as Indian Station since 1937, Wilford Moore Stadium. Moore coaching the Indians from 1947-57 and led them to the Oleander Bowl in 1949.

While Moore is thrilled with the honor, he's upset the NCAA is forcing McMurry to make the name change to be politically correct toward Native Americans.

Over 75 of Moore's former players will make the trip to Abilene for the dedication on Sunday.  Moore currently lives in Littlefield.
