Plainview Alcohol Petition Collects Enough Signatures for Vote

A South Plains community is one step closer to putting alcohol sales to a vote.

Last month, the Responsible Citizens for Economic Development in Plainview announced they started a petition to have packaged beer, wine, and liquor sold within their city limits.

The group told NewsChannel 11 Friday, that they have collected the more than 1,300 signatures needed to call for an election. The signatures must now be verified before the issue can be put on a ballot this November.

A group in Abernathy is also petitioning to sell packaged beer and wine inside its city limits. That petition is due Tuesday.

NewsChannel 11 will keep you posted on both of these petitions.
