Lubbock Soldier Spends First Night at Home

He served in Iraq for about a year. And now private First Class Joseph Kidd spent his first night back at home after arriving at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport Wednesday evening.

The soldier's friends and family were all there to celebrate this soldiers homecoming. Kidd plans to travel to San Antonio later in the week for a very special reunion. He will reunite with his friend and fellow Lubbock soldier Jason Bates, who is recovering after two improvised explosive devices detonated, and destroyed the humvee he was riding in.

Family members tell us Bates is at Walter Reed in Washington, but he'll soon be transferred to Brooke in San Antonio. Private First Class Joseph Kidd will return to duty in Iraq in two weeks.
