Lubbock Police Officer Wants Name Removed From Lawsuit

A Lubbock police officer is asking his name be removed from a taser lawsuit.

In court records, Officer Matt Doherty claims he was followed all protocols during the April 2006 tasing of Juan Nunez III. Nunez died after that incident. An autopsy showed the cause of death was from a combination of the tasing, a brain injury and intoxication.

The Nunez family is suing the city and Officer Doherty claiming Nunez's rights of excessive force and rights of search and seizure were violated.
