Gaines County Inmate Dies In Custody

The Lubbock County Medical Examiners Office is conducting an autopsy on a Gaines County inmate.

Around 10:30 p.m. Monday evening, a jailer was dispensing medication to inmates, when he discovered Becky Marie Teague was extremely ill.

Seminole EMS was dispatched to the Gaines County jail, and Teague was transported to Seminole Memorial Hospital emergency room. She was later transferred to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, where she later died.

Gaines County Sheriff, Jon Key, contacted the Texas Rangers, requesting an investigation into the death of Beckie Teague.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
