Plainview Alcohol Petition Signatures Certified, Abernathy Not Yet Official - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Residents of Plainview and Abernathy will vote in November on whether to allow alcohol sales in their cities.

Citizens for Economic Development recently circulated a petition, seeking the sale of package beer, wine and whiskey in Plainview's city limits. Officials there have since certified more than enough signatures to call for an election.

The same can be said for Abernathy, a petition there called for packaged sales of beer and wine, but not whiskey. Abernathy has apparently certified enough signatures, though the results will not be official until next month.

The issue will be put before the Hale County commissioners next month, to call for the election.
