Alleged Animal Cruelty Suspect Released from Jail

The 22-year-old Lubbock man who allegedly killed an 8-week-old puppy was released from jail Wednesday morning.

Neighbors called police to the Savannah Oaks Apartments in the 5200 block of 50th Street early Tuesday morning. They said the man repeatedly slammed the puppy into the wall, killing it.

Police arrested the suspect for public intoxication and evading arrest. However, additional charges could be filed once this case is presented to the Lubbock County Criminal District Attorneys Office.
