It fell short by 22 signatures, but the petition to recall Lubbock City Councilwoman Linda DeLeon will be re-counted.
Of the 672 signatures collected, the City Secretary could only verify 472 signatures, 22 short of what was needed to force a recall election. This means that 200 names were signed by people who were not registered voters or did not live in District One.
Organizers of the petition say they challenged the results because the numbers are so close. So to be fair, the City Secretary's Office will look at the numbers again.
Results are expected on Monday.
