TABC Investigates Lubbock Club Following Fatal Hit and Run - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

The Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission is now investigating the Lizard Club after a teen was killed the parking lot.

Darene Brooks, 19, is charged with aggravated assault and failure to stop and render aid. He allegedly ran over Joniqua Washington, 19, and Mika Erin Wright in the Lizard Club parking lot early Sunday morning. Washington died of her injuries. Wright remains hospitalized at University Medical Center in satisfactory condition.

It is not known if Brooks was drinking alcoholic beverages at the club.

Funeral services for Washington will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mount Gideon Church in Slaton. Washington was the mother of a 6-week-old baby.
