New Deal Comes Up Short in State Title Game

The New Deal Lions lost to Archer City 6-2 in the 1A State Championship Game in Round Rock.

Four early errors allowed Archer City to go up 2-0 in the 2nd. The Lions roared back to plate a run on a Matthew Ford RBI. Archer City responded to score three in the third and held off two serious New Deal threats to win their first ever state title.

The Lions finish as runners-up with a 24-8-1 record. The was the third straight trip to Round Rock for the Lions, but their first trip to the State Title game as they advanced past the Semifinals beating Thorndale 3-0 on Wednesday.

New Deal was looking for the schools first state title in 54 years.  New Deal's girls basketball team won State in 1953. Congrats to New Deal on another terrific season.
