Cisco Man Dies in Lubbock Hospital from Explosion Injuries

Authorities say a worker has died of injuries suffered in a fiery oil-related explosion just east of Cisco, about 212 miles southeast of Lubbock.

Officials say James Mayes, 64, of Cisco was cleaning out water pumps on his night shift Tuesday when a bolt of lightning struck a nearby oil battery.

The employee of United Energex in Cisco died Wednesday at a Lubbock hospital.
