United Blood Services Critical Appeal for Donors, Popeye's Offering Dinner

Blood supplies traditionally decline from June through August when so many people get busy with summer activities and do not take time to donate.

Right now, United Blood Service is critically low on most blood types, especially O-, B-, AB-, B+, and O+.

So to help encourage donors to come in, Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits will provide meals to the donors who come out during lunch or dinnertime Thursday. Also, everyone who donates will receive a $5 discount toward the purchase of drag boar racing at Buffalo Springs Lake on Sunday.

And don't forget, United Blood Services has a special campaign to help encourage blood donations this summer. Beginning June 1st, all donors that donate through the Lubbock or Midland/Odessa office of UBS will be entered into a drawing for a trip for two to Las Vegas. Winner and traveling companion must be at least 21 years of age. Trip includes hotel and airfare. Also, all donors will receive a special T-shirt. One trip for two will be given away each month! The Lubbock campaign ends August 31 and the Midland/Odessa campaign ends September 30.

If you can help, stop by the Lubbock office of United Blood Services at 48th and University, walk ins are welcome. Or call (806) 741-1752.
