Twenty-five years ago, June 19th was approved as a state holiday which celebrates the heritage of black Americans. It's called Juneteenth. And celebrations are already underway in the Hub City.
On Thursday evening, the third annual Mr. and Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Showcase Pageant will be held at the Estacado High School auditorium.
It starts at 6:30 p.m., and tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for students.
