Local Landscapers Meet with the Mayor About Water Restriction Concerns

After a meeting Thursday with Mayor David Miller, local landscapers tell NewsChannel 11 they are on board with the city's water restrictions, for now.

Harvey McLarty, President of the South Plains Irrigators Association, says that although the city is doing the best it can in this situation, they are suffering financially.

"We have a good water base right now for our plants, so if we can take advantage of the moisture that we have and do some small hand watering as the city's asked us to do, then we can be online and run our irrigation systems in a very short time,"McLarty adds.

The mayor says he felt today's meeting was a success, "It was very positive; they had an open mind and they knew that we were trying to do everything we possibly could."

Mayor Miller says that had they waited any longer to start this project, there would have been more of an inconvenience.
