Lubbock ISD is still waiting to see if its athletes will be subject to random steroid testing.
Governor Rick Perry signed legislation, setting aside $3 million for the state sponsored tests. The first year, the state will only require 30% of Texas schools to participate, and only 3% of student athletes at those schools will be tested.
LISD Athletic Director Gary Gaines says,"30% are going to be tested but we have no idea if LISD will be part of that 30%."
The U.I.L. will determine which schools will be part of the program.
