A recent trip to the Lubbock County Courthouse may have put you at a very slight risk for whooping cough.
The county and city health department is confirming that a juror who visited the courthouse, last Wednesday, June 13th, now has Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough.
Whooping cough is known as coughing spells that end in a whooping sound when the person breathes in. It is an airborne sickness, usually spread by those in close contact with an infected person.
The health department will be notifying jurors who may have come into contact with the infected person. There is no further risk from this case to future jurors or anyone visiting the courthouse.
If you have any questions, you're asked to call the Lubbock Health Department at 775-2941.
