Rain Showers Cause Serious Problems for Lubbock Drivers Overnight

The wet weather overnight caused serious problems for some drivers in West Lubbock.

All the rain caused flooding on some of Lubbock's roadways and it's now causing a delay in construction of the Marsha Sharp Freeway water main project. The intersection at 34th and Slide was originally scheduled to close Wednesday morning.

Over on West 34th, flooding conditions stranded several drivers early Wednesday morning. As many as ten vehicle stalled at some point during the night. The Lubbock Fire Department responded to at least two cars flooded-out at 34th and the Loop. Witnesses on scene reported that water came all the way up the doors of their car. Crews were on scene assisting for nearly an hour.

Power outages were reported in West Lubbock. We spoke with Excel and they said all outages were fixed overnight and there are no outages at this hour.
