Floydada got a visit from the "Ace Hardware - Helpful Hardware Man," Lou Manfredini and his "Lou crew" on Wednesday.
Manfredini was in Floydada because the Floydada Little League was selected as one of five national winners in the Ace Hardware "Fields For The Future" program. And for that big win they won a $5,000 field renovation contest from Ace Hardware.
That $5,000 along with a sizable donation from the local Ace Hardware store and eight hours of hard labor Wednesday equaled a home run as three baseball and softball fields in Floydada got fresh coats of paint and other much needed improvements.
"We took some of the dugouts that were leaning over and were kind of in some disrepair, repaired those and we're doing a of painting to spruce the place up. And with the volunteers we have here, it looks like we're going to get it all done," Manfredini said.
The "Fields For The Future" program is in its third year of service to little league programs across the country.
